This year has got off to a great start. Denise and I are completely flat out trying to get timetables organised and letters out to parents. We are very grateful to everyone involved for their patience! Sometimes I just feel very honoured to be allowed to do this job. It really is very exciting to think of the number of kids who are going to be working away on their new guitars in the next few weeks. All the best to every one of you! :-)
Over the past few years, I've been thinking long and hard about how to assist guitar groups to perform for their friends, parents and teachers in school. I've written a series of new ensemble pieces, along with some new arrangement of a couple of popular classics (Jingle Bells, anyone?) that are particularly suited for mixed ability primary school classes. I'll be trialling this in several schools this term. If you are a student/parent looking for help the backing tracks are available from the backing tracks page. Each track is the same number as the part you are learning. The "full" tracks are all of the parts played together. Practice with your individual track first, then play along with the full part once you feel confident with it.
Well, as you can probably see, I've updated the website to make it a bit more interesting! I'll be updating the blog with comments and photos to let you know what is happening with other students and also upload some handy tips. For starters here's a cool backing track from youtube in G minor for you electric players. |
